NEW YORK, Sept. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- After ten years on the air, "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" is ready to party and wants to commemorate the occasion with those who make it happen day in and day out, the fans. As a celebration both of the show and the show's staff in this tenth anniversary year and in support of the non-profit tutoring organization 826NYC, the nightly news satire will present its first-ever "Daily Show" live concert event on Thursday, November 16, 2006 featuring a night of music and comedy at New York City's legendary Irving Plaza.
The celebration will feature live and video contributions from the correspondents, the writers and Jon Stewart himself. The killer musical lineup will include a reunion of influential indie rockers Superchunk and performances by critically-acclaimed bands Clem Snide and The Upper Crust as well as a surprise special guest to be revealed at a later date. On sale beginning this week, tickets are priced at $30 and will be General Admission. They can be purchased online at www.irvingplaza.com or www.ticketmaster.com or at the Irving Plaza Box Office (17 Irving Place, NYC; 212-777-6800). All proceeds from the event will be donated to 826NYC (http://www.826nyc.org/).
The nine-time Emmy and two-time Peabody Award-winning "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" was launched in the summer of 1996 and airs on COMEDY CENTRAL. The nightly news satire takes a reality-based look at news, trends, pop culture, current events, politics, sports, entertainment and the media. In each show, Stewart and a team of correspondents, including Dan Bakkedahl, Samantha Bee, Jason Jones, John Oliver and Rob Riggle, comment on the day's stories employing actual news footage, taped field pieces, in-studio guests and on-the-spot coverage of important news events.
