Tito Ortiz vs. Ken Shamrock: The Final Conflict on Spike TV

Third Installment of the UFC's Most Heated Rivalry to Air Tuesday, October 10

NEW YORK, Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Spike TV presents the third and final installment in the UFC's most storied rivalry between bitter rivals UFC Hall-of-Famer Ken "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Shamrock and Tito "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" Ortiz on Tuesday, October 10 at 8pm ET/PT. This special UFC event will air live from Hollywood, Fla. at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel.

In what is regarded as the biggest mixed martial arts fight to ever air on television, Shamrock looks to avenge two crushing defeats at the hands of Ortiz including a recent first-round controversial loss in May at UFC 61.

"The abrupt and controversial ending to their last fight left many fight fans wanting more," said Dana White, UFC, President. "So we are going to give the fans what they want -- another bout between these two great warriors to determine who really is best. And we're giving it away free on Spike!"

At UFC 61 (5/27/06), Ortiz stopped Shamrock with a series of forearm strikes just 1:18 into the first round. The bout was not without its share of controversy, as the referee stoppage drew protests from the sold-out crowd and prompted the Las Vegas police to enter the Octagon(TM) to calm an irate Shamrock. Some fans think there was no doubt that the stoppage was just, after Ortiz landed five consecutive forearms on the head of Shamrock, who was not defending himself. But many others feel the fight was stopped too soon. To settle the score once and for all, both fighters have agreed to a rematch to appease UFC fans who were not satisfied with their pay-per-view match-up.

Ortiz (15-4-0), fighting out of Huntington Beach, Calif., is known for his strength and tenacity as a submission fighter. He returned to the UFC last April to take on rising star Forrest Griffin, winning by split decision in one of the most incredible three rounds of fighting ever to take place in the Octagon. Ortiz wants to defeat Shamrock once again, to not only prove he is the better fighter, but also to further position himself for a shot at the light heavyweight crown.

Shamrock (26-11-2), hailing from San Diego has some of the best submission skills in the game. He is returning to fight in the UFC to take on his nemesis Ortiz and settle their grudge for the final time. Shamrock last fought against Rich Franklin at The Ultimate Fighter(R) Season 1 Finale, losing by TKO at 2:42 of the first round. Previously, he defeated Kimo Leopoldo by TKO at UFC 48.
