ANN ARBOR, Mich., Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Borders will open a 20,000- square-foot store in Vacaville, Calif. at the beginning of September. The store's location will be in the Nut Tree Village, at 1641-C E. Monte Vista Ave.

Founded in 1922, the Nut Tree was the most prominent road stop in California. Over 3 million people visited the Nut Tree annually to eat at its trend-setting Western Cuisine restaurant, ride its miniature train, and enjoy the beauty of a 400-acre California ranch. Along with the new Borders store, the Nut Tree Village will incorporate these historic amenities.

The new site was selected based on a variety of factors, including consumer demographics, the strength of the co-tenants, traffic patterns, the availability of parking, visibility and the overall attractiveness of the new site. The Vacaville store will be the 77th Borders store to open in California.

The opening of this new store is expected to create more than 40 jobs in the local community. Anyone interested in employment opportunities at Borders in Vacaville should visit http://www.bordersgroupinc.com/careers/borders.htm to apply for open positions.

Borders, who embraces its role as a vital, contributing member of the community and celebrates its customers' desire to explore and find personal enrichment and knowledge, offers the opportunity to enjoy local appearances by authors and performers as well as free activities for children. Community connections are important to Borders. The new store will serve as a community-gathering place for the residents of Vacaville and commuters from San Francisco, Sacramento, Lake Tahoe and other surrounding communities.
