UKTV Takes SintecMedia OnAir Online

UKTV Takes SintecMedia OnAir Online

NEW YORK, July 3/PRNewswire/ --

SintecMedia, a leading international developer of software for
scheduling, sales, traffic, and billing systems, today announced that UKTV,
the U.K.'s second-largest multichannel broadcaster, has completed the rollout
of SintecMedia's OnAir broadcast management solution at its London facility
on 9 of its 10 channels, with the 10th channel going live shortly. OnAir is
being used by approximately 240 people across UKTV's highly focused
television channels and significantly improves the sharing of information and
control over processes in the broadcast chain.

"The integration of OnAir into our operations has allowed us to
consolidate the work of two existing systems into one, which in turn brings
better efficiency and flexibility to our reporting and business operations,"
said David Dorans, general manager and director of new media at UKTV. "We
selected OnAir after an extensive evaluation process including all available
broadcast management solutions, and we've been very pleased with the ways in
which the system has allowed us to enhance critical broadcast support
functions."

OnAir combines all major operations into an all-in-one management and
scheduling product, facilitating communications across the organization,
eliminating duplicate data entry, and enabling UKTV to leverage its assets
and airtime more effectively and realize increased revenues. The OnAir
solution has replaced UKTV's existing Harris Broadcast Master and Preset
systems, easing the transition by providing a simple, cost-effective
migration path from the broadcaster's legacy systems to the new SintecMedia
system without the need for rekeying.

The flexible workflow engine built into OnAir allows UKTV to design
custom workflow processes within a single operational environment that
supports all of its broadcast channels. Among the operations streamlined by
the workflow engine are commercial airtime order approval and credit checks,
as well as media-related activities involved in closed captioning,
subtitling, and audio description. The workflow engine also provides advanced
screening tools that work to identify and eliminate potential bottlenecks in
station operations. Moving forward, these flexible workflow processes will
allow UKTV to adapt readily to changing business demands.

"UKTV's adoption of OnAir represents the extensive acceptance of our
broadcast management solution within multichannel facilities requiring an
efficient means of handling operations from a streamlined and centralized
system," said Amotz Yarden, CEO of SintecMedia. "We've designed OnAir to
bring continuity to the various operations necessary for broadcast of one or
multiple channels, and we're pleased to see UKTV taking advantage of this
functionality in managing promos and programming for its 10 channels."
