California Tops Nation in Motorcycle Thefts
The National Insurance Crime Bureau has announced the top ten states for motorcycle thefts in 2005. They are California, Florida, Texas, North Carolina, Ohio, Arizona, New York, Indiana, Georgia and Pennsylvania.
Nationally, more than 70-thousand motorcycles were stolen in 2005 which is a slight decrease from the 71-thousand stolen in 2004. This represents a loss of over 434-million dollars to motorcycle owners and the insurance industry.

Few Workers Choose to Telecommute
A quarter of U-S workers could be doing their jobs from home, but the majority chooses to brave traffic, stomach high gas prices and head to the office. The National Technology Readiness Survey -- sponsored by the University of Maryland's Smith School of Business and research firm Rockbridge Associates -- finds that only two percent of workers telecommute full-time and nine percent do so part-time. Another 14 percent of workers have jobs or workplace policies conducive to telecommuting but do not. If U-S workers took greater advantage of telecommuting options the economy would gain annual savings of nearly four billion dollars in gas spent and time equal to 470-thousand jobs.

Mega Marathon Runner Breaks Own World Record in New York After 41 Consecutive Days, 3,100 Miles
Wolfgang Schwerk from Solingen, Germany, who set out in New York on June eleventh to break his own world record, achieved his primary goal on July 22nd. He ran 31-hundred miles around an apartment block in a residential section of Queens, New York, in a record 41 days, eight hours, 16 minutes and 29 seconds that makes him the world's best long distance runner.
