Consolidate Before July 1 When Federal Student Loan Rates Increase 1.84 Percentage Points
Federal student loan interest rates on July 1, 2006 will increase 1.84 percentage points according to the auction on May 30, 2006 of 91-day Treasury Bills. This is the second largest rate increase in the history of the student loan program. Black Americans Twice as Likely as White Americans to Start a Business
Black Americans are twice as likely as white Americans to try to start a business, according to a study by Dr. Philipp Koellinger of the German Institute for Economic Research and Babson College and Economics and Entrepreneurship Professor Maria Minniti.
The full article, "Not For Lack Of Trying: American Entrepreneurship In Black And White," also found that black Americans tend to exhibit more optimistic perceptions of their business environment than other racial groups. However, black entrepreneurs are more likely than white entrepreneurs to fail in the early stages of the entrepreneurial process.

Every year in the U.S. lung cancer strikes more than 80,000 women and over 70,000 of them die from it. It is the top cancer killer of women, with over 30,000 more women dying annually from lung cancer than from breast cancer. In fact, lung cancer claims more women's lives than breast, ovarian and uterine cancers combined. Yet, a new national survey of women ages 18 to 65+ released Friday by the National Lung Cancer Partnership (formerly Women Against Lung Cancer) finds that most women don't know these important facts and are doing little to learn more.
