Michael Douglas' 'Pimped Out' Golf Cart Goes Up for Auction to Benefit The Motion Picture & Television Fund

LOS ANGELES, June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Even the person who has everything has never seen anything like this before! Featuring satellite television and a cigar humidor, not to mention the tablet PC and totally "blinged-out" golf ball washer, the ultimate "pimped out" golf cart will be auctioned-off to benefit The Motion Picture & Television Fund, one of the entertainment industry's leading non-profit organizations.

The golf cart, which was custom-designed and built by MTV's "Pimp My Ride" experts along with Galpin Auto Sports, was used by Michael Douglas in the recent Michael Douglas & Friends Presented By Lexus celebrity golf event. AOL.com, a supporter of The Motion Picture & Television Fund, donated the technology for the custom-built cart. The celebrity golf tournament, which also raised money for The Motion Picture & Television Fund, will be telecast nationally on NBC on June 10, 4-6 p.m. EDT.

"This golf cart is a one-of-a-kind original and unlike anything I have ever seen," said Michael Douglas. "One lucky bidder will drive away with this pimped-out masterpiece, and also help support The Motion Picture & Television Fund."

The golf cart will be auctioned-off online starting Monday, June 5, with the auction ending Thursday, June 15. The starting bid will be $1,000. More information on the auction can be found at www.mptvfund.org.

The golf cart is a 2002 EZ-GO, custom painted bright blue with yellow and orange tribal flames and fitted with a unique molded dashboard, featuring top-of-the-line electronic gadgets. A KVH satellite receiver brings DirecTV onto a 7" flip-down screen in the cart. Also installed in the cart are MTX speakers, a DVD player, Tom Tom GPS, a Star Gate mobile tablet PC in the steering wheel, a "blinged" golf ball washer, cigar humidor, electric beer cooling tube and a shoe polisher. The interior was upgraded with brand new premium tuck and roll white leather seats with blue piping, and, of course, new chrome wheels added as a finishing touch. A new set of Cleveland Clubs and bag are included with the cart.

The non-profit Motion Picture & Television Fund, headquartered in Woodland Hills, Calif., was founded in 1921 to provide "relief" for those in the film industry who had fallen on hard times. Today, 85 years later, MPTF is a major service provider supporting the health and well being of the entertainment community. Healthcare, childcare, retirement living and social/charitable services are offered with compassion and respect for the dignity of the whole person.
