"Tom Cruise and I had a wonderful experience shooting parts of 'Mission: Impossible III' in China and with the China Film Group (CFG) and the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT)," states Paula Wagner, producer/partner Cruise/Wagner Productions. "Cruise|Wagner had a first rate relationship with CFG, who also co-produced the film. They were involved at the fundamental stages of filming, and while in China, we worked with a local crew who were cooperative, friendly, and extremely capable."
The filmmakers made edits to "M:i:III" in order to meet China's censor standards.
"We respect the concerns of the Chinese censors and worked to accommodate their needs to ensure that 'M:i:III' would be released in their country, one of the most important markets in the world," said Wagner. "We are excited that our imaginative work of fiction will be enjoyed by Chinese audiences."
Chinese media were brought by UIP and Paramount Pictures to attend the L.A. premiere of "M:i:III" and to interview the talent on the press line. This is the first time a Hollywood studio has reached out to involve this important market in a premiere.
Andrew Cripps, President and COO of UIP, commented, "Because a key part of the film takes place in China, we felt it was essential to reach out to their journalists in a special way. Therefore we thought it was important to bring members of the Chinese press to LA to attend the special fan screening, and we are especially pleased that we were able to do this program for the first time with 'M:i:III.'"
Tom Cruise returns as Special Agent Ethan Hunt, who faces the mission of his life in "Mission: Impossible III." Director J.J. Abrams ("Lost," "Alias") brings his unique blend of action and drama to the billion-dollar franchise.
Paramount Pictures presents a Cruise|Wagner production, "Mission: Impossible III." The film is directed by J.J. Abrams and produced by Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner. The screenplay is written by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci & J.J. Abrams, based on the television series created by Bruce Geller. The film stars Tom Cruise, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ving Rhames, Billy Crudup, Michelle Monaghan, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Keri Russell, Maggie Q, and Laurence Fishburne. The film is rated PG-13.
