CRM Studios Creates $4 Million 3D/4D Ride-Film for Landry's Tower of the Americas Multi-Sensory Theater

CRM Studios Creates $4 Million 3D/4D Ride-Film for Landry's Tower of the Americas Multi-Sensory Theater

Texas-Themed Ride Will Highlight the Majestic Beauty, Unique Elements of the Lone Star State Like Never Before

FORT WORTH, Texas, June 21 /PRNewswire/ -- CRM Studios, an independent, top-tier film and video production company based in Fort Worth, Texas, today revealed details of the $4 million, Texas-themed, three-dimensional/four- dimensional (3D/4D) ride-film it created for Landry's Restaurants' new multi- sensory "Skies over Texas" theater, located on the ground floor of the 750- foot Tower of the Americas in San Antonio.

The eight-minute ride is almost one year in the making and will be shown exclusively in the new, special-venue theater, which will open on June 21 as part of Landry's Restaurants' $15 million restoration of the Tower of the Americas.

"We've worked very closely with Landry's Restaurants to make this ride rival anything found in the best theme parks in the world," said CRM Studios Chief Creative Officer Steve Dunning. "The 3D and 4D technology is top-notch and really gives riders an accurate experience of some of the most thrilling and beautiful elements of Texas."

"We chose CRM Studios for 'Skies over Texas' because we knew they would provide world-class 3D/4D technology expertise right here in Texas," said Jeff Cantwell, vice president of Landry's Restaurants.

The sophisticated ride -- which was produced using two 35-millimeter 3D cameras -- will take visitors on a high-flying trip across Texas. Among the ride's highlights, riders get a 3D feel for what it's like to ride a bull, be tackled during a Friday-night football game, train to be a NASA astronaut and travel through an alligator-infested swamp. CRM Studios produced the 3D video and designed the ride, which was built to spec by another company. During the building of the ride, CRM provided consultation on the development of the ride's special effects, as well as the integration and coordination of the effects between the video and the ride.

4D technology is a video-production process that puts viewers squarely in the middle of the action -- or action ride, in this case -- by incorporating sensory elements that create realistic and involving experiences that can be coordinated with 3D video technology. Particular attention was paid to the "Skies over Texas" ride's 4D elements, which include air blasts, sliding and rocking movements, water sprays, ankle ticklers, fog, and life-like smells.

CRM Studios is one of the few production facilities in the nation with the in-house technical expertise in 3D/4D capabilities to produce amusement park- quality films and studios for retail, sales motivation and other corporate applications. CRM's 48,000-square-foot video, film and audio production facility features three studios ranging in size from 2,100 to 3,800 square- feet, nine video/audio edit suites, video and audio control rooms, sound booths, and an engineering lab.
