Star Jones Reynolds, Co-Host of ABC's The View, To Be Honored With 'W Award' by YWCA-NYC, 6/8
WNBC4 Meteorologist, Janice Huff, Joins Event as Host
NEW YORK, May 10 /PRNewswire/ -- The YWCA of the City of New York's second annual Summer Gala and "W Award" presentation will take place on Thursday, June 8, 2006 at Cipriani's, 200 Fifth Avenue. The organization's W Award recipient is Star Jones Reynolds, co-host of the ABC Television Network's awarding winning "The View," with the evening's festivities hosted by WNBC-TV's celebrated meteorologist, Janice Huff; it was announced today by Chief Executive Officer, Rennie Roberts.
The W Award recipient is chosen based upon vision and innovation, career successes, and inspiration and influence on other women. "It goes without saying that the YWCA of the City of New York is delighted to have the privilege of honoring Ms. Jones Reynolds at this year's gala," says Rennie Roberts. "She is the epitome of what the YWCA-NYC stands for: the empowerment of women, girls, and their families."
Emmy nominee Ms. Jones Reynolds is involved with numerous philanthropic organizations and is a frequent contributor and Board Member to several charitable foundations. Star Jones Reynolds is dedicated to the support and encouragement of women, girls, and families in need. A lawyer and former prosecutor, Ms. Jones Reynolds has been a co-host for ABC-TV's "The View" since 1997. She is known for her candor, confidence and uncanny ability to clarify muddy legal and social issues. Her knowledge of the law and talent for television has won her critical acclaim as a news and legal correspondent. Also a best-selling author, Ms. Jones Reynolds just released her second book, Shine: A Physical, Emotional and Spiritual Journey to Finding Love, a personal and inspiring account of the fundamental steps toward achieving self-fulfillment.
To complete a night celebrating amazing women, the YWCA-NYC is thrilled to have Janice Huff as mistress of ceremonies. One of New York's most recognized forecasters, Janice Huff is the weekday meteorologist for WNBC where she delivers weather reports for the station's "Live at Five" and "NewsChannel 4 at 6 and 11 p.m." and the weekend edition of "The Today Show." Like Star Jones Reynolds, Ms. Huff is a passionate advocate for children and community-related issues. She has received numerous accolades for her work on "Wednesday's Child," a popular weekly adoption feature that airs Wednesday's during "Live at Five" and again on "Sunday Today in New York."
