HGTV Series on Lookout for Designers Who Know How to Make Retail Rock
Are You a Retailer Who's Opening Soon?
TORONTO, May 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Red Apple Entertainment is going shopping for the ultimate retail experience. The award-winning producers of entertainment documentaries have launched a continent-wide search for the most radical retail around and will feature them on its television series Opening Soon: By Design. The half-hour documentary chronicles the lead up to the grand openings that everyone talks about. The show takes viewers from the original brain wave through the ripped up floorboards and drywall dramatics to that sparkling opening gala.
"We want to find the retail concept you can't believe you're seeing," says Red Apple Entertainment producer Dana Speers. "We're looking for those larger-than-life characters who have vowed to make retail rock and show our viewers how dramatically design can shape a shopping experience. If you're out there, we want to hear from you!"
The producers of Opening Soon: By Design, now in its second season on HGTV and Fine Living, are looking for leading edge designers or store owners who have ideas to burn and are making them into a reality.
For example, last season Opening Soon: By Design featured a family about to open a slick new Vespa dealership in New Orleans. When the city was shut down because of Hurricane Katrina, the family decamped to Baton Rouge where they opened a smaller Vespa dealership and planned their next move. They have now returned to New Orleans and recently opened the doors of their dream store -- a sleek and stunning addition to a previously run-down street.
Rachel Low, President of Red Apple Entertainment says that Opening Soon: By Design is building on the huge success of another Red Apple production, Opening Soon, which follows the behind the scenes work and passion that goes into opening a restaurant.
"We wanted to tell a similar opening story but from a design point-of-view," she says. "The storefronts we present are truly unique and stunning and we know there are more out there like this."
For the retailers already featured, a profile on Opening Soon: By Design has been a positive experience.
"Being featured on Opening Soon: By Design was a very powerful way to get the revived Fendi story out to consumers," says Michael Burke, Chief Executive Officer, Fendi. "Our business has tripled since we opened the Fendi flagship store in Rome and it has become a beacon for the worldwide success of our stores."
Opening Soon: By Design has documented the openings of some of North America's most prestigious stores -- large and small. Stores such as the Fendi flagship store in Rome, the Oscar de la Renta boutique in Manhasset, and the Jose Eber Hair Salon in Las Vegas have been featured on the show.
Designers and storeowners who are interested in being featured on the show should email Red Apple Entertainment at openingsoonbydesign@redapple.com.
