Encore Wam and EF Educational Tours Announce Winner of 'Get Outta Town!' Contest
Teacher and Six Students From Crispus Attucks Middle School in Indianapolis, Ind. Win European Educational Tour
Encore Wam to 'Get Outta Town!' Again - Second Season In-Production
INDIANAPOLIS, May 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Starz Entertainment Group LLC (SEG) and EF Educational Tours today presented Turner Coleman, media specialist at Crispus Attucks Middle School in Indianapolis, Ind., with a passport to "Get Outta Town!" Coleman, winner of the Encore Wam / EF Educational Tours "Get Outta Town!" contest, will go abroad with six of her students beginning May 20 for a nine-day European educational tour.
A special school assembly was held today featuring state Rep. Greg Porter, "Get Outta Town!" host Joseph Motiki, and representatives from Starz Entertainment Group, EF Educational Tours and Bright House Networks Indianapolis. Nearly 400 seventh and eighth graders joined in the school auditorium to send Coleman and the six selected students off as they prepare for their European tour. "This trip will allow students to leave Crispus Attucks with awesome educational experiences," said Coleman. "Travel abroad makes learning real and is the stuff that puts sparkle into the eyes of middle school kids who never considered this type of learning as an option."
During the event, SEG also announced that the second season of "Get Outta Town!" is now in-production and will premiere on Encore Wam in the summer of 2007. "Get Outta Town!" is a high-energy adventure show that follows its globetrotting host in their travels to different cities around the world. At each destination, the host spends a "day in the life" with a local teen, exploring the sites and learning the cultures of teens around the world. Motiki will return to host the second season of the show, which will follow him from Argentina to Kenya and more.
"Partnering with EF Educational Tours to give away this European tour was the ideal way to bring the adventures of 'Get Outta Town!' to life," stated Stephan Shelanski, senior vice president of programming for SEG. "We were excited to give Turner Coleman and the students at Crispus Attucks this send-off celebration and look forward to hearing about the many adventures they have overseas."
The "Get Outta Town!" series is created and produced by The Nightingale Company in association with Encore. The Nightingale Company is a Canadian film and television company whose film and television projects include: "Lipstick & Dynamite" (premiered at Tribeca, May 2004), "Mob Princess," "Dove Days," "ZIXX: Level One" (in pre-production on "Level Two"), "Chicks with Sticks" and "Bailey's Billions." The "Get Outta Town!" website is produced and maintained by Pangaea Media & Music, an award-winning interactive media production company based in Toronto.
The "Get Outta Town!" website (www.getouttatown.tv) continues the adventure with the hosts online travel blog, an interactive map, photos from the series, behind the scenes exclusives, a virtual passport, and more. Key to the website and the series is the suite of educational resources posted that have been created by educational publisher TEACH Magazine. These curriculum-linked lesson plans and resources have been extremely popular with educators judging by the thousands of downloads by teachers free of charge. In addition, "Get Outta Town!" is also a book series with the first two adventure novels: "Mr. X and the Circle of Death" and "Mr. X and the Cog Train from Heaven" having been published. The books are being written by "Get Outta Town!" co-producer Wili Liberman, publisher of TEACH Magazine. For more information, please see the series website. The Mr. X novels may be purchased from the website.
The Encore Wam/EF Educational Tours "Get Outta Town!" contest was sponsored by EF Educational Tours.
