Curvy Celebs More 'In' Than Thin: Latifah Bests Richie in National Survey by Spanx

ATLANTA, May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Is Nicole Richie too thin? America thinks so, as the nearly 4,000 men and women nationwide who participated in the Assets in America Survey (http://www.loveassets.com/Survey_Results.htm) by Spanx said that curves rule over the super skinny look. When asked to pick which celebrity female has the most ideal figure, respondents favored curvier women such as Queen Latifah, Beyonce Knowles and Jennifer Lopez over more slender women like Richie and Jennifer Aniston.

"I wanted to get to the bottom of what people really consider to be the physical ideal," explains Spanx founder and entrepreneur Sara Blakely, the woman behind the Assets in America Survey. "And we've learned that women should consider their curves as assets, not liabilities. The survey shows that both sexes overwhelmingly support the curvy woman!"

Surprising Survey Results

The Assets in America Survey featured a combination of 25 multiple choice and write-in questions that measures how people describe their own appearance and what physical attributes attracts them most to others. Key findings include:

-- When asked to pick which female and male celebrities had the most ideal
bodies, Jessica Simpson (40% men, 28% women) and Brad Pitt (43% men,
37% women) topped the list.

-- Curves and muscle rule over the super thin look. 72% of men and 74% of
women opted for Simpson and curvier women like Beyonce and J-Lo over
thinner celebrities such as Richie and Anniston. 86% of men and 78% of
women prefer the bulkier physiques of Pitt, Denzel Washington and The
Rock compared to the only 0.3% who voted for David Spade.

-- Proving that a voluptuous shape stands the test of time, Marilyn
Monroe's curves were voted "America's Most Loved Asset." J-Lo's butt
and George Clooney's eyes and took second and third place honors in
this question. The two most popular write-in suggestions were Angelina
Jolie's lips and Matthew McConaughey's abs.
