Cardinal Communications' GalaVu Division Installs Blackhawk DVOD System at 613-Room LAX Hotel

BROOMFIELD, Colo., May 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Cardinal Communications, Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: CDNC) , a provider of voice, video and high-speed broadband communications services, and a specialized developer of residential real estate, today announced that its GalaVu affiliate has installed its Blackhawk digital video-on-demand (DVOD) interactive television system in a 613-room luxury hotel near Los Angeles International Airport. GalaVu is a division of Australia-based Entertainment Media Technologies (EMT). Cardinal Communications has signed a definitive agreement to purchase a majority interest in EMT.

GalaVu's Blackhawk system provides first-run Hollywood movies and interactive television services such as games, hotel services and custom remote check out. The new installation will provide a guaranteed revenue stream to GalaVu over a six-year period, and represents the fifth U.S.-based hotel installation of the Blackhawk DVOD system. GalaVu now is featured in more than 1,500 hotel rooms in the United States. Together, EMT and GalaVu provide DVOD service to more than 25,000 rooms at hotels in Canada, Aruba, Europe, South Africa and Australia.
