Xilinx Virtex-4 FPGAs Enable Time-to-Market and Performance Advantages for Wide Range of Video Processing Applications

(NASDAQ:XLNX), and 4i2i, a world-leading provider of hardware and software advanced video and audio coding technologies, today announced one of the world's first demonstration of an FPGA-based H.264/AVC high profile real-time video decoder at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Conference, April 24-27, 2006 in Las Vegas, Xilinx booth #C10515. Implemented on a single Xilinx Virtex(TM)-4 FPGA, and a licensable intellectual property (IP) core developed by 4i2i, the high profile decoder provides a highly-integrated, cost-effective solution ideally suited for a wide variety of video-based broadcast, conferencing and surveillance products, particularly applications based on the emerging Blu-ray Disc and HD- DVD technologies.

The standard definition synthesizable core is available in VHDL, Verilog or netlist formats and is available now. A high definition version of the core will be available in May 2006.
