Tri-C West Theatre Department Announces Summer Calliope Series

PARMA, Ohio, April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Cuyahoga Community College Western Campus Theatre Department announces their Summer Calliope Series. Tri-C West continues its tradition of fine summer programming with four concerts and a production of Tom Stoppard's hilarious tale of two befuddled Elizabethans in: Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. All events are free and open to the public.

The Tri-C Civic and Collegiate Concert Band - June 4 at 7 p.m.

The Tri-C Civic and Collegiate Concert Band is proud to launch the Summer Calliope series with a musical concert of light and familiar band music.

Jim Gill and Friends - June 11 at 7 p.m.

His music has been compared to John Gorka and Greg Brown. This will be the third year Jim and his band will be performing for the Summer Calliope series. Always a huge hit, you won't want to miss this gifted singer/songwriter.

The Mary Bridget Davies Band - June 18 at 7 p.m.

Mary Brigid Davies recently made her major acting debut playing the role of Janis Joplin in the smash off-Broadway musical Love, Janis in Cleveland. She now fronts the Mary Bridget Davies Group as well as Janis Joplin's original band, Big Brother and the Holding Company. The Mary Bridget Davies Group is a rollicking mix of tight rhythm, searing Hammond B3 organ, electrifying guitar work and powerhouse vocals.

Damon Maida - June 25 at 7 p.m.

Acoustic performance in the tradition of artists like James Taylor and David Wilcox. New York City singer/songwriter Damon Maida blends acoustic guitar rock with a modern pop and folk flavor, weaving stories of life and love with heartfelt lyrics and warm melodies.

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead by Tom Stoppard
July 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22 and 23 at 7 p.m.

A hilarious romp through a different side of Shakespeare's most famous play. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern ponder life, death, probability, and the nature of theatre itself as they make their way towards their inevitable "final curtain." Fred Gloor, the co-executive director of the Cleveland Theater Collective directs this production.
