Silent Disco Makes United States Premier at SunFest

New SunFestivities Offer Something for Everyone

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., April 5 /PRNewswire/ -- SunFest has many new attractions and activities to keep festivalgoers coming back for more. With advance four-day passes priced at $35, there is plenty of entertainment and activities for less then $9 a day. Guests come to rely on great concerts and fabulous artists from SunFest. They also look forward to what's new, and this year there's something new in store for all at SunFest 2006 to be held May 4-7 in West Palm Beach, Fla.

SunFest brings the original Silent Disco to U.S.

Developed in the Netherlands, Silent Disco involves a DJ, numerous sets of wireless headphones and a desire to dance. Instead of being played out through speakers, the music at Silent Disco is delivered to dancers' ears via their own set of free wireless headphones, complete with bass, volume and treble controls. On Saturday and Sunday May 6-7 at 11 a.m., the disco will be a kids- only zone. Kids 12 and under will enjoy a digitally enhanced storytelling of Sleeping Beauty and then a funky jive open dance. While ALL ACCESS guests will be the first to see the phenomenon in action, the SunFest Silent Disco will be open for the entire festival. On Saturday at 6 p.m., Mayor Lois Frankel will host Dance with the Mayor and the Police Athletic League dancers.

KidsFest at SunFest

Changes have been made this year in the area formerly known as Youth Park. This area is being turned into KidsFest at SunFest, a mini-SunFest with kid- sized fun, activities and entertainment. KidsFest at SunFest offers its own food court serving peanut butter and jelly, a refreshment barge with Cold Stone Creamery ice cream and other kid-friendly food.

The Adelphia Stage, KidsFest's main stage, will feature great entertainment. Adelphia brings Nickelodeon's Game Lab, an exciting action packed pie in the face, live show with performances on Friday at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at noon and 3 p.m. Huckapoo, the up-and-coming girl group featured on the Disney Channel and the "That's So Raven" soundtrack, will perform Sunday at 1:30 p.m. FPL's Super Hero, Captain Conservation, will save the day teaching kids how to be energy conservation heroes.

Fabulous Food

With more than 70 food stations on the grounds, guests will never have to repeat a bite. More than 50 new food items are being added to this year's line-up, including coconut shrimp, smoked barbeque quail, and veggie wraps.

New this year is a flambe tent, SunFest on Fire, featuring rotating daily sections including entrees and desserts including Flaming Shanghai Sake Chicken and Kiwi Mango Flambe. The SunFest on Fire Tent will be located between South Clematis and Datura streets.

More Food, More Entertainment, More fun for ALL ACCESS Party

Leave it to SunFest organizers to improve on a good thing. This year partygoers for the ALL ACCESS PARTY will enjoy a party-on-every-corner atmosphere beginning with an early evening concert, entertainment on the barges including a dueling piano show, and street performances. This pre- festival all-inclusive event to be held on May 3 includes food, drinks and headline entertainment from Island Heat and Kool and the Gang.

Food service areas have been increased to dole out more food and larger portions. The number of food service locations will be expanded from one to four with more than 40 food stations including the Hospitality and Club SunFest areas, all serving full-portion sizes. The menu selections will include Italian, Greek, Vegetarian, BBQ, Tropical, and the beloved festival fare.

Guests will be entered into a chance to win door prizes including a 4-day, 3-night stay for two at any Sandals or Beaches all-inclusive resort; 3-day, 2-night overnight stay packages for two including spa packages for the Jupiter Beach Resort and Spa and the Delray Beach Marriott; a spa package for two at the Reagan Spa; two round-trip airline tickets on Southwest Airlines; and (2) $500 gift certificates from City Mattress.

Street Performers

Street performers will delight spectators up and down Flagler drive. Troupes include The Living Garden and Cirikli, who will deliver the truly unexpected. The Living Garden's "Living Fountain" features a beautiful woman who transforms herself into a living fountain, sprinkling water from her fingertips. Cirikli will captivate guests as they put on a majestic show on stilts with wood skeleton puppets.

Art Cars

The streets of SunFest will also be filled with another creative art form, Art Cars. Art Cars are automobiles like you've never seen on the road before. These registered, drivable vehicles are colorful rolling canvases that display artists' ideas, values, and beliefs in a highly personalized way.

This fleet of decked out cars rolls into SunFest as part of the Palm Beach County Cultural Council's Third Annual Drive to Support the Arts, a promotion that highlights the array of summertime experiences of Palm Beach County's cultural organizations. It also raises the awareness of the State of the Arts license plates, which fund cultural projects in the County.

The Art Cars Rally display will be located between Datura and Evernia streets, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Captain Morgan's Floating Oasis

All three floating barges in the Captain Morgan's Floating Oasis on the Intracoastal Waterway will be linked by floating walkways this year. KOOL 105.5 will be on hand Friday afternoon with Bobby Rich. GATER 98.7 will host Sunday's finale. They will be joined by the entertaining dueling piano show from 88 Keys Piano and Tiki Bar performing Thursday and Friday from 6 to 9 p.m.; Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m., and 7 to 10 p.m.; and Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to close.

The WIRK 107.9 themed barge will feature performances by up-and-coming country artists each day at 6 p.m. Catch these rising stars each day at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 4 - Scotty Emerick, Friday, May 5 - Danielle Peck, Saturday, May 6 - Ray Scott, and Sunday, May 7 - Eric Church.

WILD 95.5 will be back and has unofficially become the nightclub barge with great dancing and tunes. Be sure to stop in the afternoons to see Chris Marino enjoying the afternoon drive time on the water. On Saturday, all the WILD 95.5 talent will join the party.

Derby Party

SunFest will be throwing a Derby Party on Saturday, May 6 at 4:30 p.m. Kentucky Derby lovers will enjoy the thrill of watching the race on the big screen of The Washington Mutual Stage. WPTV News Channel 5 and ESPN Radio 760 will emcee the party, which includes well-known derby favors including mint juleps and derby hats provided by SunFest for the authentic derby experience.

Photo Booths

Capture SunFest memories in a whole new way at one of the festivals new photo booths. The all-new photo booths with three locations throughout the site let you capture the moment with a strip of four photos for only $3.

Cool Activities

Sponsors always offer fun activities. Burt's Bees, a new sponsor for 2006, will be creating a lot of buzz while kicking off a national mobile tour "Bee- utify Your World." The maker of earth friendly natural personal care products will create a spa to treat festivalgoers to relaxing hand massages, product demonstrations, a photo shoot and great giveaways. If you're one of the first 50 people to visit the Bee-utify Your World tent on each event day, you will receive a free sapling tree to plant in your back yard courtesy of Burt's Bees and the National Arbor Day Foundation.

New Places to Relax

For the ultimate relaxing experience visit the City Mattress / UPN Relaxation Stations. These relaxing locales include a cluster of Adirondack chairs with shading. Relaxation stations are situated throughout the festival along the water on Flagler Drive.

Ticket Information

Advance discount tickets for SunFest 2006 (May 4-7) are on sale at the SunFest store located at 525 Clematis Street in downtown West Palm Beach, online at http://www.sunfest.com/ and by phone (561) 659-5980 or 1-800-SUNFEST. Advance tickets are also available at participating Publix Super Markets and Washington Mutual Financial Centers. Prices for advance tickets are $17 for one day and $35 for a four-day pass. Tickets at the gate will be $20 for one day and $40 for a four-day ticket. Seniors 65 and older pay $12 at the gate for a one-day ticket, and children 12 and under are admitted free with an adult, courtesy of Florida Power & Light.
