Dan Brown's Legal Victory Doesn't Protect Reputation But Calls Attention to a 'Hoax,' According to Ignatius Press
Dan Brown and Random House won a victory in a British court of law but the civil suit tore Brown's reputation into "teeny, tiny tatters," the author of a critique of THE DA VINCI CODE said.
Random House ducked paying civil damages to authors Michael Baigent and Richard Leigh who alleged that Brown "appropriated the architecture" of their 1982 nonfiction book, HOLY BLOOD, HOLY GRAIL in writing THE DA VINCI CODE.
However, Brown's court testimony and resulting publicity exposed as pure hype Brown's much praised historic research, say two Catholic scholars, Sandra Miesel and Carl Olson, authors of THE DA VINCI HOAX, published by Ignatius Press.

Consumer confidence holds steady heading into second quarter, according to RBC CASH Index
Consumer confidence has stabilized after taking a deep dive in March 2006, according to the most recent results of the RBC CASH -- the Consumer Attitudes and Spending by Household Index, which measured the attitudes of 1,003 Americans this week. Consumer's lower confidence levels regarding investing and current economic conditions were offset by an increase in their expectations for the future and continued optimism regarding job security. As a result, the RBC CASH Index for April, released today by RBC Financial Group, stands at 89.4, compared to 86.2 in March.
