NBC 5 Steps Up for Race for the Cure
DALLAS and FORT WORTH, Texas, April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- NBC 5 steps up for Susan G. Komen's Race for the Cure on Saturday, April 15, in Sundance Square, Downtown Fort Worth, Texas. The race and walk benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation -- Tarrant County Affiliate. NBC 5's Deborah Ferguson will act as Mistress of Ceremony. Over sixteen thousand men, women and children, who are committed to the fight against breast cancer, are expected at this year's event.
Beginning April 10, NBC 5 will highlight stories in NBC 5 First at Four newscasts each day to bring attention to this devastating disease. On Friday, April 14, NBC 5 will produce a half hour special on the Race for the Cure that will air during NBC 5 First at Four. This special will focus on survivor stories, the event and how it helps those fighting breast cancer.
NBC 5 will provide live coverage from the Race for the Cure event during Saturday 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. newscasts. One in eleven women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the same time it will take people to run this race.
