Join Actor Dennis Farina, Mercy Home for Boys & Girls in Wearing Shamrocks for Kids This St. Patrick's Day

Together, We Can Give Hope to Nearly 30,000 Hurting Children Who Are Abused and Neglected in Illinois

CHICAGO, March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Join actor Dennis Farina and Mercy Home for Boys & Girls and wear a Shamrocks for Kids pin throughout the month of March as a sign of unity, hope and friendship. By wearing your shamrock you will show thousands of kids that you care and will help Mercy Home help more innocent children that are left hurt, homeless and alone. Visit http://www.shamrocksforkids.org/ to get your Shamrocks for Kids pin and to learn more about how Mercy Home cares for kids. You can also get your Shamrocks for Kids pin by tracking down one of hundreds of volunteers who will be on the streets of Chicago distributing pins at the Downtown St. Patrick's Day Parade, on Saturday, March 11, at the South Side Irish Parade on Sunday, March 12, or at several locations in downtown Chicago on St. Patrick's Day, March 17. Mercy Home also seeks new volunteers to help distribute shamrock pins and collect donations during the St. Patrick's Day season. Call 888-571-3700 to find out more or visit http://www.shamrocksforkids.org/ .

In addition to wearing your shamrock, Mercy Home invites you to enjoy the St. Patrick's Day season by attending the 11th annual Shamrocks for Kids Celebration at the Hilton Chicago, immediately following the Downtown St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday, March 11. Admission is $10 and the event benefits Mercy Home for Boys & Girls. Dyed in the Wool and The Shannon Rovers Pipe Band will perform as will dancers from the Mullane Irish Dance Academy and the World Academy of Dance. The event will feature face painters, balloonists and jugglers for the kids. Children under 12 receive free admission to both events and FREE Leprechaun lunchbox. To purchase tickets please visit http://www.shamrocksforkids.org/ or call 888-571-3700.

You can also participate when you shop at your local Jewel-Osco and purchase any Kellogg's and Keebler product. From March 1 through the 31st, Kellogg's will donate 10 cents of your purchase of these items to Mercy Home's Shamrocks for Kids campaign.

Mercy Home is proud to have film and television star and Chicagoan Dennis Farina serving as the Shamrocks for Kids Honorary Chairman. Mr. Farina is lending a hand to help raise awareness about the plight of Illinois' abused and neglected children.

Since 1887, children who need hope, healing and a place to call home have been finding refuge at Mercy Home in their residential and mentoring programs. At-risk children who have been the victims of abuse or neglect, poverty and even abandonment are provided with the chance to improve their lives at Mercy Home. Mercy Home operates two locations -- a home for boys at 1140 W. Jackson Blvd. in Chicago's West Loop and a home for girls at 11600 S. Longwood Dr. on the south side of Chicago.
