George Clooney Donates 78th Annual Academy Awards(R) Gift Bag to United Way to Benefit Hurricane Recovery and Rebuilding

Gift Bag to be Auctioned Off on United Way Web Site

Proceeds to Benefit United Way Hurricane Response and Recovery Fund

ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The following is being issued by United Way of America:

WHAT: Oscar-winning actor/producer/director and member of United Way's
Board of Trustees George Clooney has generously donated the gift
bag he received at the March 5, 2006 Oscar Awards ceremony to
United Way.

WHEN: An online auction of Mr. Clooney's gift bag will begin at 12:01 am
ET Wednesday, March 22, 2006 and end March 28, 2006 at 11:59 pm.

WHERE: Auction will take place at www.unitedway.org

WHY: As a member of the Board of Trustees of United Way, Mr. Clooney
has been a generous supporter of United Way's efforts to rebuild
lives and communities devastated by the 2005 hurricanes. Knowing
that the rebuilding in the Gulf Coast will take years and require
significant financial resources, Mr. Clooney offered to have his
78th Annual Academy Awards(R) Gift Bag auctioned off with the
proceeds going to benefit the United Way Hurricane Response and
Recovery Fund.
