The FIX Online TV Network Announces the Acquisition of Pilot Project and Launch of a New Pilot Project Contest
LOS ANGELES, March 14 /PRNewswire/ -- The FIX (thefixtv.com), the first-of-its-kind Internet television network, today announced a deal with the producer of Pilot Project (PilotProject.tv) to acquire the original Pilot Project reality TV show and contest. The FIX will also acquire programming that is generated out of current and future Pilot Project contests.
The FIX also announces the launch of a second Pilot Project contest set to begin in summer 2006.
Pilot Project is the next generation of reality TV: viewers creating the shows. That's the premise behind the Pilot Project competition (http://www.pilotproject.tv/), the Web-based contest where people submit their own ideas for television shows and the winner gets his or her own pilot produced. Visitors to PilotProject.tv can submit their original ideas for daytime/talk shows, sitcoms, reality TV and other shows.
This announcement, which marks the premiere of The FIX's foray into the online broadcast network arena, also provides The FIX with rights to license new programming from the Pilot Project contest. "The FIX audience will benefit greatly from our acquisition of Pilot Project. Not only will we be producing a new contest and winning pilot, but the contest itself provides a wealth of new talent and show ideas that we can either develop ourselves or license to other companies," said The FIX President of Programming Brian Knappmiller. "This partnership will mark a transition in the creative process of television programming. Together we'll create an innovative vehicle for new shows to reach a mass audience."
"We are thrilled to be the first producer to provide programming to viewers of The FIX," said Pilot Project Creator Jessica Dalton. "In addition to providing an outlet for our upcoming shows, The FIX provides the perfect home for our catalogue."
In addition to this deal with Pilot Project, The FIX has already inked deals with celebrities and rock bands to create their own shows; product placement firms are on board as well, providing additional revenue for The FIX. Knappmiller and co-founder Ruben Navarrete are currently in negotiations with some interested venture capitalist firms. And, of course, there's that massive global audience intrinsic to the Web.
The FIX is expected to debut in spring 2006. To learn more or to request an investor packet, visit The FIX at http://www.thefixtv.com/.
