Entry Deadline: June 7
BIRMINGHAM, Ala., March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Celebrity Chef Tyler Florence will host Southern Living Cook-Off 2006, the magazine announced today.
Florence is host of Food Network's Food 911 and How to Boil Water, as well as author of Tyler Florence's Eat This Book and Tyler Florence's Real Kitchen. This is his third year to host the Cook-Off finals, which will be held October 5, 2006, in Charleston, S.C.
Southern Living Cook-Off 2006, featuring a $100,000 Grand Prize, is the largest annual cook-off in America. Southern Living is accepting entries in these categories: Your Best Recipe, Super-Quick Family Favorites, Healthy and Good For You, Party Starters, and Southern Desserts.
"We're thrilled to have Tyler back with us as this year's Cook-Off host," said Southern Living Foods Editor Scott Jones. "He's incredibly personable, has an extensive knowledge of food and cooking, and really connects with our audience and contestants."
There is no cost to enter the contest and no limit to the number of recipes one may enter. All entries must be original and must include at least one Cook-Off sponsor product. Entries must be postmarked by June 7, 2006. Entry forms, sponsor lists, and complete contest rules are available at www.southernlivingcookoff.com.
Fifteen finalists will be selected to compete for the $100,000 Grand Prize. Each category winner receives $10,000. Southern Living will donate the Grand Prize winner's $10,000 category prize to his or her favorite charity. In addition, $1,000 Finalists Prizes will be awarded to the runners-up in each category and $500 Brand Prizes will go to the best use of sponsors' products.
Finalists will prepare their recipes simultaneously for judging on October 4. Food experts and Southern Living foods editors will judge the finalists, and winning recipes will be chosen based on originality, taste, ease of preparation, visual appeal, and use of eligible sponsor products. Winners will be announced at the Cook-Off Grand Finale Event on October 5, where finalists also will demonstrate their recipes.
All winning recipes will be available in the January 2007 issue of Southern Living and on www.southernlivingcookoff.com.
