SANTA MONICA, Calif., Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- It may be Valentine's Day outside the theater, but moviegoers searching for romance on the big screen have diverse views of love according to a recent Hollywood.com analysis. In the study, Hollywood.com (http://www.hollywood.com/) tallied box office receipts of films in the "romance" genre and adjusted the performances to current U.S. average ticket prices to reveal the highest-grossing winners. From tearjerkers and comedy to sports and action, love came in all shapes and sizes at the box office. Even Julia Roberts couldn't compete with the charms of Disney's features The Lion King and Aladdin, as the animated blockbusters took the number two and three positions respectively.

The 90's was a strong decade for romantic films as the 1990 film Ghost floated in at number four, while Dances with Wolves, Armageddon, Pretty Woman and Jerry Maguire finished out five through eight, in that order. Rounding out the top ten, the 1983 Shirley MacLaine and Jack Nicholson classic vehicle Terms of Endearment ranked ninth, while the Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt romantic comedy, What Women Want earned the number 10 spot. Below are the Top 25 Highest Grossing Romantic Movies:
