GSN Bids Farewell to Three Television Legends

GSN Pays Tribute to Don Knotts and Darren McGavin on Friday, March 3 and Dennis Weaver the Week of March 6

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Feb. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- In honor of the recent passing of legendary television actors Don Knotts, Darren McGavin and Dennis Weaver, GSN is planning special programming tributes showcasing some of their memorable appearances on classic game shows. GSN is honored to present these acclaimed and award-winning actors as they appeared as themselves on such memorable series as I'VE GOT A SECRET (Knotts), PASSWORD (McGavin) and FAMILY FEUD (Weaver.)

Knotts and McGavin will be feted by GSN on Friday, March 3 during the Black and White Overnights. At 3:00 AM, Knotts will be seen as the celebrity guest on I'VE GOT A SECRET. In this 1973 episode hosted by Steve Allen, Knotts' secret was that he was sitting on Allen's lap. The celebrity panelists on this episode were Anita Gillette, Henry Morgan, Jayne Meadows and Richard Dawson.

At 3:30 AM on March 3, GSN will highlight McGavin's appearance on PASSWORD in 1962, hosted by Allen Ludden. McGavin was a celebrity panelist along with Carol Burnett.

Weaver's tribute begins Monday, March 6 at 5 PM and continues throughout the week highlighting his appearances on FAMILY FEUD from 1984. Hosted by Richard Dawson, the Weaver FAMILY FEUD episodes include such themes as Country and Western Singers vs. TV & Film Cowboys. Other celebrities on the Weaver episodes were Amanda Blake, Dale Robertson, Pat Buttram, Doug McClure and Ricky Skaggs.
