Area Students to Perform World Premiere of Rollo Dilworth Song

Area Students to Perform World Premiere of Rollo Dilworth Song

WHAT

Seventh and eighth grade students from Providence-St. Mel School and Lake Forest Country Day School will perform the world premiere of "When I Reacha Mah Home," a new song written by Rollo Dilworth, world renowned, award-winning composer and Director of Choral Programs at North Park University in Chicago.

WHY

This marks the fourth annual Black History Month Choral Workshop between Providence-St. Mel School and Lake Forest Country Day School. The Workshop incorporates choral singing as a means to engage these students and allows them to learn about each other by "shadowing" students as they attend classes. Through this Workshop, students will have an opportunity to meet, work and perform new music with a professional musician.

"Music is critical to a child's development because it helps build self- esteem, awareness, mutual respect and a greater sense of community," says Dr. David Baar, Choral Director, Providence-St. Mel School.

"It is a unique opportunity to bring two cultures together in the spirit of music," says Scott Baeseman, Choral Director, Lake Forest Country Day School. "It is a true privilege to have a composer of Rollo Dilworth's caliber working with and composing for these two choruses."
