2006 NLGJA-Las Vegas Excellence in Journalism Contest Deadline is March 7

LAS VEGAS, Feb. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Please note the deadline for entering the 2006 NLGJA-Las Vegas Excellence in Journalism contest is March 7. The purpose of the contest is to honor excellent work on gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender (GLBT) and HIV/AIDS topics.

We are awarding $300 for the first place winner in each of these three categories:

* Best News/Feature on a GLBT or HIV/AIDS topic, print or written (online)
media
* Best News/Feature on a GLBT or HIV/AIDS topic, TV/radio or broadcast via
Internet
* Best Opinion/Editorial on a GLBT of HIV/AIDS topic in any media

Entries must have appeared first in a Nevada publication or broadcast outlet during the calendar year 2005 and created by a Nevada-based journalist. The local chapter of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association includes more than 40 members from more than a dozen news outlets in Las Vegas. We are a professional group of journalists and media professionals who work from within the media to ensure fair and accurate coverage of GLBT issues. Nationally, we have 1,300 members from every major media outlet.
