Spring Festival, or the Chinese New Year, is the most celebrated festival by Chinese around the world. Each year, the Spring Festival Gala hosted by CCTV (China Central Television) is the most significant cultural event and is watched by hundreds of million of people globally. This year, for the first time, iCCTV (a subsidiary of CCTV) will host the Internet Spring Festival Gala 2006, leveraging the most advanced technology in communication, media and broadcasting to showcase Chinese culture and entertainment via the Internet. As the exclusive technology and service provider for iCCTV, UUSee's innovative IPTV platform offers truly interactive and participative entertainment that integrates TV and the Internet, bringing live broadcast, order programs, online contest and voting to the Internet users. UUSee currently has over two million registered users and plans to roll out more paid services such as the Game Channel. In addition to CCTV, UUSee also provides the IPTV platform for Beijing TV, TianTian Online and ChinaEduNet.
YeePay provides the payment platform for UUSee, allowing IPTV users to pay for select content and programs using their bank cards via the Internet, mobile or telephone. ''We choose to partner with YeePay for two main reasons. First, YeePay has established itself as a leading payment platform in China with a high quality of service; second, YeePay has the most complete solution that covers online, mobile and telephone payments. YeePay system runs on IBM's hardware and software, so we have confidence in its reliability and capability to handle mission critical applications, as we expect to see a surge in traffic visiting our site during the holiday,'' said Li Longxiang, Vice President of UUSee.
Bin Tang, CEO of YeePay, commented, ''We have seen the explosive growth of the Broadband Internet in China in recent years. With better infrastructure, lower cost, richer audio/video content, broadband based interactive multimedia service has increasingly become a major form of entertainment. But payment remains the main issue as more and more companies start offering paid content online. We hope our payment platform can empower IPTV companies like UUSee, and ultimately offer a better experience for the end users over the Internet.''
