Stanley Pierre-Louis Joins Firm as Co-Chair of the Entertainment and Media Law Practice
NEW YORK, Jan. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Stanley Pierre-Louis, the former Senior Vice President of Legal Affairs for the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), joined Kaye Scholer's New York office today as co-chair of the Entertainment and Media Law Practice.
At the RIAA, Mr. Pierre-Louis developed enforcement strategies and coordinated the recording industry's litigation in several landmark copyright cases, including Napster, MP3.com, Aimster and Grokster, a precedent-setting case in which the recording industry prevailed before the U.S. Supreme Court. The December 10, 2005 edition of Billboard Magazine named Mr. Pierre-Louis as one of its "Power Players" in the music industry. An American Lawyer publication has cited his work as "some of the most celebrated litigation in music history." He is a frequent speaker on copyright and music law and has served on several non-profit boards.
Prior to joining the RIAA, he clerked for Judge David A. Nelson of the United States Court of the Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, then joined a major Washington, DC law firm, where he specialized in the areas of copyright and constitutional law. Mr. Pierre-Louis is a graduate of Clark University, where he was elected Phi Beta Kappa, and of the University of Chicago Law School, where he served as an editor of the Law Review.
"I'm pleased to have the opportunity to join Kaye Scholer in New York," said Mr. Pierre-Louis. "This firm has an outstanding reputation, and I look forward to continued growth in its Entertainment and Media Law Practice."
"We are fortunate to have such an accomplished lawyer join the firm's New York office," said Barry Willner, Kaye Scholer's managing partner. "Stan is a wonderful addition to our national team in entertainment, intellectual property and commercial litigation."
"Stan is a winner, and extremely knowledgeable in the field. This is very exciting," said Peter Haviland, co-chair of the Entertainment and Media Law Practice, resident in Los Angeles.
