Loudeye and EMI Sign Dual-Mode Download Service Agreement
CANNES, France, Jan. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Loudeye Corp. (NASDAQ:LOUD), a worldwide leader in business-to-business digital media solutions, today announced an agreement with EMI Music, to provide dual-mode digital downloads of EMI's music to retail customers across Europe.
The dual-delivery model allows users to browse, search, listen, and download full-length songs over-the-air to their mobile device as well as to a personal computer, all through one transaction. Tracks can be ordered direct from either a personal computer or a mobile phone, and then delivered to the individual devices from a single account, through retailers using this Loudeye service.
Loudeye already distributes fixed-line downloads from EMI's catalogue of over 320,000 tracks.
Doug Lucas, EMI Music's vice-president of digital development and distribution, said: "Music fans increasingly want to be able to purchase and listen to music whenever it is convenient to them, and then be able to listen to that music across all their devices whenever they choose. This agreement with Loudeye will allow us to respond further to this clear consumer demand."
Ed Averdieck, Managing Director for Loudeye in Europe, added: "Services launched in 2005 showed that a growing proportion of consumers across Europe want to be able to download music to their mobile phone. This convenient service goes one step further and allows consumers to download the track to their mobile and PC through one account."
