ERA Hosts Its Second Annual Latino Awards of Excellence in Miami Beach
Direct Response Trade Association Recognizes the Best that the U.S. Hispanic and Latin American Markets Have to Offer
WASHINGTON, Jan. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Today at the Loews hotel in Miami Beach, the Electronic Retailing Association will host its second Annual Latino Awards of Excellence. This event, scheduled for 6:30 pm, will recognize the leading direct response companies that have made the biggest contribution to the direct response retailing community in both the Latin American and the U.S. Hispanic marketplace. ERA, the international trade association for companies that sell goods and services directly to consumers, will hold this event in conjunction with its Mid-Winter Conference & Trade EXPO, scheduled for January 29-31, 2006.
The Latino Awards of Excellence will unveil winning campaigns in 15 areas of expertise, including six new categories that were added in 2006, ranging from Best Overall Latin American Short Form Spot to Best Overall Spot Adaptation to Biggest Industry Contribution. Additionally, Paola Varela, entertainment and celebrity news reporter of Acceso Total with Ocean Drive en Espanol, will serve as emcee of this premier event. Prior to her current position, Varela was the host of CHAT for Telemundo Television and has served as an entertainment reporter for the MTV Awards and the Billboard Music Awards, among other celebrity events.
In total, ERA has received over 90 entries for the awards show, far surpassing last year's total entrants. A panel of 10 industry experts judged the entries, and over 300 industry professionals are expected to attend this event.
"I am overwhelmed by the support that the Latino community and the direct response industry as a whole have given to the Latino Awards of Excellence," said Daniel Gorinstein, president and CEO of Premiere Exclusives-Mexico and chair of the Latino Awards of Excellence Task Force. "We have more entries than we expected, we have raised more sponsorship dollars than ever, and we have really cemented this program as a lasting industry tradition."
