Sinclair Announces Analogue and Digital Carriage Agreement With Verizon Services Corp.

BALTIMORE, Dec. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:SBGI) is pleased to announce that it has reached a multi-year retransmission consent agreement with Verizon Services Corp. providing for the analogue and digital cable carriage for television stations owned and/or operated by Sinclair in the Baltimore and Tampa markets. The affected stations are WTTA (WB 38) in Tampa and WBFF (FOX 45) and WNUV (WB 54) in Baltimore. Tampa and Baltimore are the initial Sinclair markets in which Verizon plans to launch its FIOS-TV service as a competitor to cable and satellite providers of television programming.

Barry Faber, Sinclair's Vice President and General Counsel, commented, "We are pleased to have reached an agreement beneficial to all parties involved. This agreement was made possible because Verizon recognized the value of being able to carry our signals, which allowed for an appropriate economic agreement to be reached. We look forward to helping Verizon as it moves forward with its new business venture and anticipate being able to enter in similar agreements for other stations as FIOS-TV expands its footprint into other Sinclair markets."

Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., one of the largest and most diversified television broadcasting companies, currently owns and operates, programs or provides sales services to 60 television stations in 37 markets. Sinclair's television group reaches approximately 22% of U.S. television households and includes ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, WB, and UPN affiliates.
