More than Half of Online Shoppers Finish Shopping the Week Prior to the Holidays; Total Holiday Spending Hits $25 Billion, According to the Holiday eSpending Report from Goldman Sachs, Nielsen//NetRatings and Harris Interactive

A report says 54 percent, or the majority of online shoppers finished their holiday shopping by December 16th, with ten percent of shoppers still waiting to begin. The holiday spending total reached 25 billion dollars, excluding travel, during the first seven weeks of the 2005 holiday season. The report was prepared by Goldman, Sachs, Nielsen//NetRatings and Harris Interactive's Holiday eSpending Report

Thus far in 2005, U-S online holiday spending resulted in a 25 percent increase from the same time period in 2004.

The Majority of Job-Seekers Still Use Newspapers Over the Internet, According to a New Report from The Conference Board

Despite the proliferation of online job boards, three out of four job-seekers still use newspapers to look for employment. That's according to a report released by The Conference Board. The Internet was not far behind, with three out of five job-seekers using the Internet.

Newspapers are still the most common method of looking for a job in three of the four major regions across the U.S. and in all but the top income group. The Western U-S is the only area of the country where the Internet topped newspapers among those seeking jobs. An impressive 63 percent of job searchers 55 years and older in the Western U-S reported searching the Internet, while just 36 percent of this age group did so in the Southern U-S.

Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet Dive Into IMAX(R) 3D Adventure Deep Sea 3D

IMAX Corporation and Warner Brothers Pictures say their upcoming original IMAX Three-D production, Deep Sea Three-D, will be co-narrated by Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet, and will feature an original score from award-winning composer Danny Elfman.

The film will be the first documentary ever to boast the voices of Depp or Winslet, and be the first original IMAX production to be scored by Elfman, who has provided the musical backdrop for major Hollywood productions such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Chicago, Spider-Man 2, Men in Black and many others. It's slated for release exclusively to IMAX theatres on March third, 2006.

NASA's Hubble Discovers New Rings & Moons Around Uranus

NASA's Hubble Space Telescope has photographed a new pair of rings around Uranus and two new, small moons orbiting the planet.

The largest ring is twice the diameter of the planet's previously known rings. The rings are so far from the planet, they are being called Uranus' "second ring system." One of the new moons shares its orbit with one of the rings. Analysis of the Hubble data also reveals the orbits of Uranus' family of inner moons have changed significantly over the past decade.
