SUNNYVALE, Calif., Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Modulus Video, Inc., an emerging leader in the market for MPEG-4 AVC video compression systems, announced today that the company has appointed Richard Stanfield as Executive Vice President Global Field Operations. Effective immediately, Stanfield will take responsibility for sales and marketing of Modulus Video's industry leading MPEG-4 AVC encoding systems that enable delivery of standard and high definition video over satellite, cable, terrestrial and IPTV networks.
Commenting on the hiring, Modulus Video Chairman and CEO Bob Wilson said, "The decision to move forward with an MPEG-4 AVC deployment is an important one for our customers; one that creates new opportunities and requires careful consideration. Throughout his career Richard has demonstrated an understanding of what customers need to quickly reach confident decisions that enable them to move forward with new technology deployments. That perspective and his particular knowledge of the telecommunications industry, which is rapidly becoming a major force in video transmission to consumers, will prove invaluable as he enhances our global sales force."
Richard Stanfield comes to Modulus from Turin Networks, a leading provider of optical switching technology to the telecommunications industry that he co-founded and for which he served as Vice President of Global Field Operations. During his tenure, Stanfield was instrumental in introducing the company to the market, securing venture capital and securing sales to major telecommunications companies throughout the world. Prior to that, Stanfield served as Vice President of North American Sales for Advanced Fibre Communications, a manufacturer of access products for the communications industry. Howard Fischer Associates conducted the search that brought Richard Stanfield to Modulus Video.
Looking forward to the new role, Stanfield said, "This is an interesting time to be working with the broadcast industry as it adapts in anticipation of consumers' increasing expectations for quality and variety of services. In addition, Modulus has positioned itself to play an important role for the Telco market whose networks are evolving to support video in forthcoming IPTV rollouts. Modulus products are the right solution to make today's broadcast business work. I look forward to championing them and pointing our customers on a successful path."
