Foo Fighters Score Five Grammy Nominations: Four-Time Grammy Winners Stand to Increase Tally to Nine

Best Rock Song ('Best Of You'); Best Rock Album (In Your Honor); Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals ('Virginia Moon' with Norah Jones); Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal ('Best Of You'); Best Surround Sound Album (In Your Honor)

NEW YORK, Dec. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Foo Fighters were nominated for five Grammy nominations, it was announced this morning, making the Foos' total Grammy tally a potential nine when the 48th Annual Grammy Awards are broadcast Wednesday, Feb. 8 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on CBS from 8 - 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).

Foo Fighters' previous two albums, One By One and There Is Nothing Left To Lose took home Best Rock Album statuettes home in 2004 and 2000 respectively. The Foos have collected four Grammys overall, the other two being the "All My Life" single's 2003 Best Hard Rock Performance win, and the "Learn To Fly" video's 2000 Short Form Music Video Grammy.

In Your Honor was released June 14 to the best reviews and biggest first week sales of the band's career: Over 300,000 copies were moved in In Your Honor's first week of release, as THE NEW YORK TIMES hailed it as "an unexpected magnum opus," ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY called it "the year's first great hot weather record," and THE LOS ANGELES TIMES added "easily the best Foo Fighters record." More recently, the album was confirmed as one of ROLLING STONE's best of 2005, while "Best Of You" has already landed in BLENDER and SPIN's songs of the year, with more honors yet to be announced.

Foo Fighters are currently en route from Australia to the UK, where their tour will continue with already SOLD OUT arena shows in Cardiff, Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester and Dublin, and will include two nights at London's prestigious Earls Court.

Reached with news of the nominations during a layover in Singapore, Foo Fighter Dave Grohl commented, "This is a huge honor for us. We set out to make this record the best of our ten-year career. To have the biggest sales, biggest tour and now most Grammy nominations of our career for In Your Honor... It's just more than we could ever hope for."
