Columbia Recording Artist Brice Long Performs for Kentucky United Methodist Children's Home

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Dec. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Native Kentuckian and Columbia Recording artist Brice Long will visit the Kentucky United Methodist Children's Home in Versailles on Monday, December 12. For the past several years, Long has contributed financially to the home, but on this visit, he'll bring the gift of music - performing for the 60 kids sheltered by this program.

The Kentucky United Methodist Children's Home is a non-profit organization serving teenagers with locations in Versailles and Owensboro. Both homes care for over 695 children per year with histories of abuse, neglect, abandonment or family trauma.

"Our kids cheered when we announced about Mr. Long's special visit and performance. Many of them have never experienced a live concert. I think our choir group will be excited to meet him as well," said Dr. Dewey Sanders, Interim President at the Home. "We rarely have an opportunity like this for our kids - especially the gift of music during the holidays."

"Growing up in the Methodist Church, there was always an envelope in the monthly church bulletin requesting donations to the children's home," says Long. "I learned about all that the home did for these children and knew from a young age that I wanted to help. This organization does such a great thing for these kids and I am proud to help them out."

Country music fans were first introduced to Brice Long through songs like "It's Only Monday" and his current chart climbing single, "Anywhere But Here." A native of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Brice worked with horses and cattle on his family's farm. He toyed with the idea of hitting the rodeo circuit as a team roper, but his father urged him to focus on his music. Brice took the advice to heart and spent the next few years singing, writing and performing including opening for several major country artists. He moved to Nashville in 1993, obtained a degree from Middle Tennessee State University and signed his first writer deal in 1996. He found success writing Gary Allan's #1 single, "Nothing On But the Radio" and eight songs on his own self-titled debut album due out later next year.
