Tut Systems Wins Another IPTV Video Headend Shootout
Manti Telephone Selects Tut Systems Astria(R) Content Processor for 2nd Generation Video Roll Out
LAKE OSWEGO, Ore., Nov. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Tut Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:TUTS), an industry leader enabling the delivery of next-generation data and video services over broadband networks, today announced that the company recently won a competitive IPTV video shootout in a real-world headend environment at Manti Telephone in Manti, Utah.
After determining that the Astria content processor (CP) provided superior video quality and scalability for processing real-time video off of satellite and off-air feeds, Manti Telephone placed an order to upgrade its ATM-based headend to IP. As part of the upgrade, Manti will deliver video services to its ATM and IP customers and expand the number of channels delivered to its existing base of TV customers to 133 video and audio channels. Manti Telephone was one of the first telephone companies in the world to deliver video services over copper wires when it first deployed video in 2000.
"Tut Systems' strong experience in the transport of video over bandwidth-constrained telco networks sets them apart when processing video in our real-world environment and their customer support services are world-class," said General Manager of Manti Telephone, Paul Cox. "As a result, they proved to be the clear choice for our second generation deployment and were selected over other video solutions which were developed primarily for use in the satellite market."
"As an industry pioneer in the TelcoTV market, Manti has a strong interest in maintaining a video system of the highest quality and reliability," said Bob Noonan, Vice President of Global Sales and Customer Care. "It's nice to see experienced IPTV service providers like Manti chose Tut Systems over our competitors after rigorous real-world field testing."
