Ronald McDonald House Charities of the New York Tri-State Area and McDonald's Are Spreading the Word About World Children's Day
NEW YORK, Nov. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- McDonald's restaurants of the New York Tri-State Area are continuing the "Community Service is a Team Sport" program through World Children's Day at McDonald's with the Give A Hand campaign to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities. "Community Service is a Team Sport" is a year-long campaign encouraging people from area middle and high schools to give back to their communities, perform acts of community service and raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities of the New York Tri-State Area.
For a donation of only $1.00, McDonald's customers can sign their name to a hand and have it displayed at their participating local McDonald's. Give A Hand runs throughout November 20, 2005, and is an easy and heartfelt way for individuals throughout the community to support the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
The event marks the start of World Children's Day at McDonald's, a worldwide program that builds awareness and funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities(R) (RMHC(R)) and other children's causes around the globe and right in the community. World Children's Day takes place in various ways in more than 100 countries.
November 20th marks the end of the "Community Service is a Team Sport" school fundraising program. Schools across the Tri-State Area are competing to have popular teen musical group The Click Five perform in a private concert at their high school! Through a partnership with Z100 and Ronald McDonald House Charities, the school that volunteers the most hours and raises the most money for Ronald McDonald House Charities will win the private concert. Winners will be announced the first week in December.
Since its inception in 2002, World Children's Day has raised more than $50 million for children's causes. This year, McDonald's Corporation has a goal to raise $50 million for children in celebration of its 50th anniversary and World Children's Day will be a large part of this commitment.
