Hyperion to Publish Book With Felicity Huffman and Patricia Wolff
NEW YORK, Nov. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Hyperion announced today plans to publish a new book by Felicity Huffman and Patricia Wolff, Huffman's best friend since college. The book, to be tentatively entitled A PRACTICAL HANDBOOK FOR THE BOYFRIEND, will be published in November, 2006.
A tongue-in-cheek guide for every woman who is looking to build a better boyfriend-and every guy looking for help in the dating arena-this irreverent compendium will provide information on the uncharted, sexy, challenging, adventurous, and totally confusing world of male-female relationships.
Felicity Huffman won an Emmy in 2005 for her portrayal of Lynette Scavo on TV's hit series Desperate Housewives. Her next film, Transamerica (to be released in early 2006), won her the Best Actress Award at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival. Huffman has appeared in a number of feature films, television shows, and plays. She resides in Los Angeles with her husband, actor/director William H. Macy and their two daughters.
Patricia Wolff is a producer of both movies and plays. As head of David Mamet's production company, Wolff produced the world premiere of Mamet's play Oleanna off Broadway as well as two of his films. She co-produced the movie Bring It On starring Kirsten Dunst and is a founding member of the Atlantic Theater Company in New York City. Patricia resides in Los Angeles with her son Jack.
The announcement was made by Hyperion president Robert S. Miller. Of the deal Miller said: "A Practical Handbook for the Boyfriend" is the funniest and at the same time most insightful look at human courtship rituals that I have yet to read, and could only have been written by two women who have been trading war stories from the relationship front for years."
Of the book Huffman said and Wolff said: "We hope that "A Practical Handbook for the Boyfriend" is to dating what Motor Trend is to the car enthusiast, what Zagat is to the diner, what Hustler is ... well, you get the point."
Bob Miller negotiated the deal with Richard Abate of ICM. Hyperion retains world English and translation, first serial, and audio rights. Executive editor Brenda Copeland will be the editor for the book.
Hyperion, founded in 1991, publishes general-interest fiction and non-fiction hardcover, trade, and mass-market paperback books for adults and includes the Miramax, ESPN Books, ABC Daytime Press, Hyperion East, and Hyperion AudioBooks imprints.
