The Rembrandts' Greatest Hits Album, Choice Picks, in Retailers Today
New Single Coming to Radio in First Quarter of 2006
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- With a brand-new single and thirteen fan favorites, Choice Picks is an apt name for The Rembrandts' new album. The duo's newly recorded gem, long anticipated by a fan base that remains strong 15 years after The Rembrandts' first hit, arrived at retailers today.
Though it covers familiar territory, Choice Picks has a sound all its own. Listeners will, of course, recognize "I'll Be There For You," the theme song to NBC's hit TV show Friends, and "Just The Way It Is, Baby," The Rembrandts' first hit off their 1990 self-titled debut. But the new recordings give the old favorites a new polish -- and give fans even more reason to listen all over again.
Danny Wilde and Phil Solem first began playing together as The Rembrandts in 1989. Each of their five albums before Choice Picks saw commercial and critical success. And, though "I'll Be There For You" was inarguably their biggest hit, their enduring popularity is more likely due to their compelling live performances, the universal themes expressed in their lyrics, and the vocal harmony that defines The Rembrandts' unique sound. Although Solem left The Rembrandts in 1997, the duo reunited two years later without missing a beat.
Along with "I'll Be There For You" and "Just The Way It Is, Baby," Choice Picks includes "Burning Timber," "Someone" and "Show Me Your Love," also from the duo's debut; "Maybe Tomorrow," "Chase The Clouds Away," "Johnny Have You Seen Her?" and "Rollin' Down The Hill," from The Rembrandts' 1992 album Untitled; "Don't Hide Your Love," "Drowning In Your Tears" and "This House Is Not A Home," from their 1995 triple-platinum album LP, which included "I'll Be There For You;" and the title track from their 2001 reunion album Lost Together. "Don't Give Me Up," the new single on Choice Picks, is slated for release in the first quarter of 2006.
In the years since "Just The Way It Is, Baby" hit the charts, a whole new generation of music listeners has come of age. "Don't Give Me Up" is an infectious power-pop song that will likely hook radio programmers across the country and certainly give fans the fix they have long been craving. By delving into their musical past, The Rembrandts might just be earning fans for years to come.
