In Sickness and In Health: Majority of Employees Surveyed Say They Frequently Go to Work Ill

They may not have taken any vows, but today's workers certainly appear to be committed to their jobs -- perhaps overly so. Eighty percent of employees polled said they frequently show up to work while sick. A mere 8 percent of respondents said they never come into the office when feeling under the weather. The survey was developed by OfficeTeam and was conducted by an independent research firm. Survey respondents were asked, "How frequently do you go into work when you're feeling sick?" Their responses:

'Mr. October' Reggie Jackson's Last World Series Home Run Baseball Listed on eBay

Reggie Jackson's last World Series home run baseball is now listed on eBay. Jackson, the power-hitting Hall of Famer dubbed "Mr. October" for his clutch performances in several World Series, sent the ball soaring into the stands -- and into baseball history -- on October 24, 1981 during Game Four at Dodger Stadium. The winner of the auction will receive the ball, a certificate of authenticity, a D-V-D with the historical news footage of the towering home run and the opportunity to meet Reggie in person. The auction has no reserve, with an opening bid of 100-thousand dollars. Reggie has inspected the ball within the last week and clearly remembers the homerun, as well as each pitch that came to him before hitting it. While he cannot verify that the ball is the one he hit that day, Reggie is willing to personally meet with the purchaser to sign the ball, if the purchaser makes his own travel arrangements.

One in Three Workers Witness Ethical Misconduct Despite Clearly Communicated Guidelines

Nearly a third of U-S workers have witnessed co-workers engage in ethical misconduct, according to a Hudson survey on workplace ethics. However, only half of those witnessing unethical or illegal acts reported it to anyone in authority. Despite these figures, nearly eight in ten U-S workers state that their companies clearly communicate what they consider unethical and ethical behavior in the workplace. When it comes to their own day-to-day jobs, half say they rarely or never encounter ethical gray areas, although 14 percent of workers do at least once a month and 28 percent do occasionally. When workers have witnessed colleagues engaging in unethical behavior, they are more likely to experience gray areas themselves. Witnesses also give lower ratings to their companies for communicating ethical standards.
