Coping Without (Myron) Cope
PITTSBURGH, Oct. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Yoi! What do you get the man who has everything? Boasting a 35-year career as the voice of the Pittsburgh Steelers, a berth as the first pro-football announcer to be elected to the National Radio Hall of Fame and a place in Steelers' history as the creator of The Terrible Towel(TM), Myron Cope retired from the broadcast booth last season as a legend.
Okel Dokel. The Greater Pittsburgh Convention & Visitors Bureau (GPCVB) is urging the faithful from across Steelers Nation and around the world to show their appreciation of the Voice of the Steelers by participating in what is projected to be the biggest simultaneous Terrible Towel(TM) Wave to date.
Hum Hah. When that legend returns to Heinz Field for the Steelers vs. Ravens Monday Night Football game on October 31, he will be met with a Terrible Towel(TM) Wave of enormous proportions.
"It's the perfect way to honor Myron Cope's 35 years of service in the Steelers radio broadcast booth and kick off our nationally televised game against a division opponent," said Steelers President Art Rooney.
"During last season's playoff games," said GPCVB President and CEO Joe McGrath, "Steelers fans from Baghdad to Boise, along with fans in our own backyard, joined forces to create two massive Terrible Towel(TM) Waves."
"Now, we're asking Steelers enthusiasts everywhere to once again stop, stand and swing their Terrible Towels in unison right after the coin toss," McGrath continued. "This time, it's for Myron."
