Cablevision to Add OLN to Digital Line-Up
Move Significantly Expands Distribution of OLN Programming, Including Its Exclusive NHL Hockey Games, to Cablevision Customers
BETHPAGE, N.Y., and STAMFORD, Conn., Oct. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Cablevision Systems Corp. (NYSE:CVC) and OLN today announced that they had reached an agreement under which Cablevision will include OLN, which has exclusive rights to carry 58 regular season NHL hockey games, numerous playoff games and the first two games of the Stanley Cup Finals, as part of its iO digital service. These New York area hockey fans will be able to watch Monday's Rangers game on OLN.
"We are pleased that we were able to reach agreement with Comcast in a number of areas, including making OLN and its exclusive telecasts of NHL hockey games available to many more Cablevision customers," said Mac Budill, Cablevision's senior vice president of programming. "Beginning with Monday night's game between the New York Rangers and Montreal Canadiens, OLN's exclusive national hockey telecasts will be available to the majority of our cable customers through our iO digital service."
"This is great news for New York hockey fans," said Gavin Harvey, President of OLN. "We look forward to working together to bring Cablevision's customers the hockey teams they want to see on OLN, and all of our other exciting and unique sports programming."
The network will present seven NHL Hockey games in November, including the Penguins at the Rangers on Monday, November 7. In addition to the NHL and the network's original programming, OLN presents best-in-class events like The Tour de France, The America's Cup and the Boston Marathon. OLN is also the home of Survivor in syndication.
"Many of our customers have a strong interest in watching NHL hockey," Budill said. "We believe including the games carried by OLN as part of our iO digital service will be an excellent addition to the hundreds of games our customers already receive through MSG Network and FSN NY, which are the home networks for the Rangers, Islanders and Devils and are both included in our Family Cable line-up."
