The Weather Channel(R) Interactive Earns Media Rating Council Certification
weather.com Shows Industry Leadership by Participating in First Round of Publisher Certification
ATLANTA, Aug. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The Weather Channel Interactive, Inc. (TWCi), publisher of weather.com, announced today that it is one of the first online publishers to receive certification from the Media Rating Council (MRC). TWCi's ad impression delivery and counting methodology, as well as its internal processes and controls, were audited by Pricewaterhouse Coopers and certified by the MRC board.
Certification is based on adherence to guidelines developed by the Internet Advertising Bureau's (IAB) measurement task force and to established operating procedures set forth by the MRC.
The IAB measurement task force included representatives from technology providers, analytics and measurement companies, third-party ad servers and publishers including TWCi. The mission of the task force was to establish guidelines for ad impression measurement, with the ultimate goal of standardizing impression-counting practices across the industry. The guidelines were finalized in September of 2004.
"We hope being one of the first publisher's to earn MRC certification reinforces to the advertising community our on-going commitment to best business practices," said Terry Blevins, vice president of finance and ad operations at TWCi. "We look forward to continuing to work with the IAB and the MRC on these initiatives, and encourage other online publishers and third party ad servers to participate as well."
