Popular Prep Sports Show Moves From Airwaves to Web

MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- KARE 11 Prep Sports Extra hosted by KARE 11 Sports Director Randy Shaver will be Webcast this season on http://kare11.com/prep . The popular high school sports show is in its 22nd season.

"We'll do anything we can to highlight the excitement of our prep sports scene," said Shaver. "Webcasting makes a lot of sense. It's where kids go for information. And fans have the choice of joining us live Friday nights or watching anytime during the following week. Plus, friends and families can watch anywhere in the world," he added.

Friday nights, KARE 11 News at 10 will have an expanded prep sports segment for broadcast television viewers; then, fans can go to http://kare11.com/prep at 11 p.m. for more extensive coverage. The Webcast is slated to run through the football playoff season.

"KARE 11 Prep Sports Extra will have the same commitment to quality and passion for prep sports that has driven us for more than 20 years," said John Remes, president and general manager of KARE 11. "Our agreements with the network mean there simply is no broadcast time available on conventional television Friday nights for a special show. Going to the Web will give us time to see more highlights."
