Philadelphia Folk Festival Announces Last Minute Lineup Change

The David Bromberg Quartet Plus Friends and Lester Chambers and Friends Will Take the Main Stage on Saturday Afternoon!!!

TICKETS ON SALE NOW!!

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- One of the nation's oldest and most revered musical gatherings has set the stage for the three-day extravaganza of traditional and contemporary folk, dance, crafts, camping, and children's activities. For its historic 44th edition unfolding August 26-28 at the Old Pool Farm near Schwenksville, PA, the Festival continues its successful balancing act between tradition and innovation.

This year, unforeseen events caused a last minute lineup change. Emmylou Harris announced with disappointment that she will be unable to perform at this year's Philadelphia Folk Festival, as originally scheduled, due to a slight fracture in her hand. She is expected to make a full recovery. Unfortunately, Buddy Miller, who was scheduled to perform along with Emmylou, has also canceled.

Long-time Folk Festival favorite David Bromberg Quartet plus Friends, and the renowned Lester Chambers of the Chambers Brothers along with his friends will play the Main Stage on Saturday afternoon from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Bromberg's live show remains as unique as ever. Concerts by David and his band are extraordinary events, and performances follow no set pattern of selection. Give and take between performers is complete, spontaneous, and totally sincere. As the NY Times noted, "He has such control of his audience that he can, at one moment, hold it in his hand with a tender, touching yet funny anecdotal song, and then set it romping and stomping with a raucous bit of raunch. He is electrifying."

As lead vocalist and harmonica player with the legendary Chambers Brothers, Lester Chambers was the driving force in creating the psychedelic soul sound of the 1960s. In recent years, Lester has returned to his rhythm and blues roots, performing with Steve Earl and Billy Bragg on the Tell Us the Truth Tour. Now, Lester brings his distinctive style to Schwenksville to delight the Saturday afternoon crowd.
