Motorola Communications Group Selects Gerard Eads for Annual Award
Eads Honored for Leadership in Motorola Trunked Users Group
DENVER, Aug. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Motorola Trunked Users Group (MTUG) on Sunday presented the prestigious Danny Smith Award to Gerard Eads, communication services administrator, City of Arlington, TX.
"Gerard Eads has a passion for creating cohesive public safety alliances between agencies both in and outside of his city," said David Byrum, president, MTUG. "He has demonstrated his leadership, earned the respect of his peers, and is active in countless organizations and user groups."
Eads, communications services administrator, Arlington, TX, is responsible for the city's 911 System, Radio Communication Services (Voice & Data) and Dispatch Services. He is a long standing member of Motorola's Trunked User Group (MTUG) where he has served as president and vice president. He participates in countless organizations i.e., Chairman of the Homeland Security Initiative for the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG), Assessor for DFW Airport Mock Disaster drills, and many more.

The award was presented at MTUG's annual meeting, held in conjunction with the 71st Annual Conference and Exposition of the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials International (APCO) in Denver, CO. MTUG brings together new and experienced users of Motorola trunked two-way radio communications systems to share firsthand knowledge about implementing this technology, discuss communications-related issues and evaluate new technology, features and equipment.
The Danny Smith Award, named for the former manager of radio services for the city of Tulsa, Okla., recognizes individuals who have shown outstanding leadership and service to MTUG. Smith was instrumental in founding MTUG in 1987. He was known nationally for his dedication to public safety communications and his skill in bringing people together to find solutions to communications challenges. Smith served on the MTUG board for six years. Members of the MTUG organization select the annual award recipients.
