The Gladney Center and WB 33 Present 'A Child to Love'
FORT WORTH, Texas, Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The following was released today by The Gladney Center for Adoption:
WHO: The Gladney Center for Adoption, KDAF TV WB 33 and Texas
Department of Family and Protective Services
WHAT: "A Child to Love"
WHEN: Fall of 2005
WHY: The Gladney Center for Adoption, KDAF TV WB 33 and Texas
Department of Family and Protective Services (TDFPS), have joined
forces to create a year-long campaign called "A Child to Love." The
objective of this campaign is to find permanent homes for children
currently in the Texas Foster Care System who are available for adoption.
With over 28,000 Texas children in foster care, the need for such a
campaign is profound.
The "A Child to Love" campaign is scheduled to begin airing on
September 5, 2005. Gladney will work with TDFPS in identifying a child
to be highlighted one night a week on WB 33's evening newscast. A
different child will be featured each week for 52 weeks. Last year,
Gladney placed over 300 children in forever homes. In addition, Gladney
has placed over 27,000 children from this country and around the world
since the agency was founded in 1887. Mike McMahon, President of
Gladney, states that this "campaign goes hand-in-hand with Gladney's
mission to 'create bright futures through adoption'. The Gladney Center
is grateful for WB 33's commitment to the children of this community and
we enthusiastically embrace this opportunity to find permanent homes for
children through adoption."
KDAF TV WB 33 is a Tribune Broadcasting station. Tribune Broadcasting
owns and operates 26 television stations concentrated in major markets
and Superstation WGN on national cable. The group's combined reach is
more than 80 percent of U.S. television households. The "A Child to
Love" campaign is consistent with WB 33's commitment to addressing issues
and concerns of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. Terri Chappell, WB 33
News At Nine co-anchor will serve as the spokesperson for "A Child to
Love" campaign. The station's mission is to serve the community through
strong programming, community outreach and public affairs programming.
"We believe our partnership with the Gladney Center for Adoption and
Texas Department of Family and Protective Services will be a tremendous
benefit to the Dallas/Fort Worth area," said Joseph A. Young, Vice
President/General Manager, WB 33.
The State of Texas is committed to finding permanent homes for those
children who cannot return to their homes. Through this collaboration,
many of these children will experience the love and nurturing that a
forever family can provide.
