LOS ANGELES, Aug. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Argent Mortgage Orchestrated(TM), the first year concert series produced by Elevation Entertainment which pairs popular recording artists with symphony orchestras in "one night only" engagements, announces today the fifth installment of the series: Counting Crows will perform with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles on Tuesday, October 25 at 8:00PM. Tickets go on sale at noon on Saturday, September 10 at the Walt Disney Concert Hall box office, online at www.laphil.com, www.ticketmaster.com or charge-by-phone at (323) 850-2000 or (213) 480-3232.
The concert marks the first time that Counting Crows will be backed by a full symphony orchestra, and they have selected world-renowned composer and arranger Vince Mendoza to arrange, orchestrate and conduct their songs for this performance.
The concept of Argent Mortgage Orchestrated is to present contemporary artists with the full backing of some of America's finest symphony orchestras. Each concert is a "one night only" engagement and staged in intimate, beautiful concert facilities. Argent Mortgage, a leading national mortgage lender in the U.S., is proud to sponsor this unique concert series.
"We are very pleased to bring together Counting Crows and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra as the fifth concert in the Argent Mortgage Orchestrated Concert Series," said Sam Marzouk, president of Argent Mortgage Company. "The fact that we can culminate this very successful tour at a venue like the incredible Disney Concert Hall will make this a particularly special evening. This musical convergence of world-class orchestras and top performing artists offers an uncommon and innovative experience to pop music and classical music enthusiasts alike."
"The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra is proud to host Counting Crows for this special engagement at Walt Disney Concert Hall," says Arvind Manocha, general manager of the Hollywood Bowl and Presentations for the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association. "The combination of the band, the HBO, and the intimacy of Walt Disney Concert Hall is going to be one of this year's can't-miss events in Los Angeles. We would also like to thank Argent Mortgage for bringing this great series to our hall."
The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra/Counting Crows performance at Walt Disney Concert Hall joins a list of other special engagements that have included LeAnn Rimes and the Boston Pops, Seal and the Minnesota Orchestra, Duran Duran and the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra and Jewel and the Cleveland Pops Orchestra. All previous shows played to sold-out crowds and received tremendous reviews from fans and critics alike.
Counting Crows hail from the San Francisco Bay area and consist of Adam Duritz (vocals), David Bryson (guitar), David Immergluck (guitar), Charles Gillingham (keyboards), Dan Vickrey (guitar), Jim Bogios (drums), and Millard Powers (bass). Counting Crows success dates back to their 1993 debut release August And Everything After and the hit single "Mr. Jones." The band's most recent success included a # 1 hit with the song "Accidentally In Love," which was featured on the Shrek 2 soundtrack, as well as nominations this past year for a Grammy Award, a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award for the track. In 2004 the band released their first ever "Best Of" set Films About Ghosts which featured songs from every phase of the Counting Crow's recording career. The band has sold over 18 million records worldwide.
Composer and arranger Vince Mendoza has been at the forefront of the jazz scene as a composer and recording artist for the last 20 years. He has performed and/or worked on many critically acclaimed projects that include dozens of albums with song writing legends such as Joni Mitchell, Bjork, Chaka Khan, Robbie Williams and Bobby McFerrin. He actively conducts concerts of his music in Europe, Japan, Scandinavia and the UK and is the chief conductor of the Netherlands Metropole Orchestra.
The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra is the historical successor to the Hollywood Bowl Symphony Orchestra which, starting in the mid-1940s, performed at the Bowl and recorded under the direction of Leopold Stokowski. Created for Principal Conductor John Mauceri, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra debuted in the spring of 1991 through its first recording (Hollywood Dreams). Led by Mauceri and featuring bass-baritone Bruce Hubbard, the orchestra performed its first live concerts at the Hollywood Bowl later that year on the annual Fourth of July program (July 2, 3 and 4). As part of its 15-year anniversary celebration, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra performed its 300th concert on July 31, 2005. Among the artists who have performed with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra since 1991 are Kathleen Battle, Garth Brooks, Harry Connick, Jr., Roger Daltrey, John and Bonnie Raitt, and Trisha Yearwood; and, with guest conductors, Luciano Pavarotti, Tony Bennett, and Andrea Bocelli. The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra has released 14 recordings on the former Philips Classics label, some of which have received or been nominated for awards.
