"This is an impressive sales achievement that very few films reach," said Eric Parkinson, President of Hannover House. "This movie has the proper mix of star-power, production values and family-appeal which has made it a steady selling video for over 10-years," he concluded.
"SAVAGE LAND" DVD's are priced at only $9.95 suggested retail, making the film a great entertainment value. The movie is rated "PG", and is 94-minutes long.
Principal stars include Vivian Schilling, winner of the Blockbuster Video Rising Star Award and the Diamond Dove Award, as well as Academy Award nominee Graham Greene ("Dances With Wolves"). Other notable cast members include Charlotte Ross ("NYPD Blue"), Corbin Bernsen ("L.A. Law"), Sonny Landham ("Predator") and Charles Napier ("Silence Of The Lambs"). "SAVAGE LAND" was produced and directed by Dean Hamilton ("The Long Road Home").
The film tells the story of two women and two children that get stranded in the old west when their stagecoach is attacked by bandits posing as Indians. The group's adventures are chronicled as they complete their journey with the help of the "real" Indians, who are quite friendly and extremely knowledgeable. "SAVAGE LAND" received critical praise from over fifty top newspapers, and won the Family Academy Award and the Film Advisory Board Award of Excellence in 1994.
DVD copies of "SAVAGE LAND" may also be purchased on-line at Amazon.com or WalMart.com.
Vivian Schilling surprised fans when she stopped accepting acting roles shortly after starring in "SAVAGE LAND," choosing instead a literary career as a novelist and screenwriter. Her first two novels, "SACRED PREY" and "QUIETUS" were successes both commercially and critically, and her third novel, "HARVESTMAN" is slated for release in '2006. Schilling has also written the screenplay for a suspense-thriller which she plans to direct as a major feature film in '2006.
"I didn't officially give-up acting," said Schilling. "If the right part were presented, I'd likely accept. I just found that I preferred the creative control that being a novelist gave me, the freedom to tell a story completely without collaboration. I'm hoping that I'll find this same sort of satisfaction as I move into feature film directing," she continued.
